Bus Door Floating Hinge Repair Posted: Sat Dec 17, 2011 6:22 pm     Views: 77      Rating: Not rated

Since I have the front bus nose skin off already, and the door hinge screws broke off from years of rust, I decided to go in and make a "back door", to remove the hinge plate. This was after exhausting trying to remove it with a torch and drill out bolt. The center section that holds the floating hinge in place, was also loose and completely off. Too much pressure trying to remove the frozen, broken bolts, will make that center section snap off of it's weld. Next, I'll reinstall the hinge plate and weld up a cover plate for the hole I made. Now, on to the next batch of broken off screw heads :-/
