I have acquired two of these early decklid badges and rarely see them on finished cars. Would this be correct to mount on my zwitter engine cover as all of these models are considered "1200" cc engines in all of my literature and shop manuals?
I even know a German fellow who worked at Volkswagenwerk in the 60's and he said that the 25hp engine was considered a "1200"
Any help??
Thanks |

Hi n3t4n9,
First you would need to post an image of the script. The only stock vw scripts for bug engine sizes came out in the 1960s.
As for the 25 HP engine being "considered a 1200", it is definitely not. Those are a 1131cc size, where the 36 HP is 1192cc.

I don't think the Canadian Standards ever came with the 1200 badge. If there is one, I would wager that it was added after the fact.
The only Beetles that I have seen the 1200 badge on are the early 60's Mexican Beetles. I think the early 60's Euros may have had it as well, but I'm not sure. _________________ The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance, but the illusion of knowledge
