|
I tried searching for the answer, but am obviously doing something wrong there...
I have a 72 super, and need to pull the front seats out. Aside from having to take a sledge hammer to them to "encourage" them forward, they get to a point and then stop cold. What's the trick? I looked, but didn't see any kind of stop.....
I'm sure this will be a "D'oh" kind of thing
Thanks ya'll _________________ '72 super baja |

Remove the bolts and slide them back until they come out of tracks. |

Yeah, forward. There may be some factory "stops" or springs on the front of the seat rails. You may have to hold them down with a screwdriver to get the seats to slide out. Use white lithium grease if you need to grease the rails.
Use a flashlight to help see them, not a hammer to encourage the seat forward. _________________ 74 rusto-custom type 1 Sedan - SOLD

Different seat/rail styles. They changed design between 1972 and 1979, 73 IIRC, went to a three point style seat rail arrangement from the older two rail design. _________________ 74 rusto-custom type 1 Sedan - SOLD

Awesome, thanks Kelley. I'll have another go at it.
As far as the hammer goes, remember, I'm in GA. First rule of redneck mechanics, "If at first you don't succeed, use a hammer." 2nd rule, "If that doesn't work, get a bigger hammer." Often followed by the famous last words, "Hey ya'll, watch this!" _________________ '72 super baja |

Try lubricating the rails with some PBlaster and use a dense rubber mallet over a steel hammer while "encouraging" the seats to come out. _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943) |

There is a small tab that has to be pressed on the inside rail of bothseats. It can be done by yourself but having an heling hand makes it easier |
