Could someone tell me if my seats are correct for my '51, or if they're infact from an Oval.

The door cards have got the original cloth underneith the green. But the seats are bear under the green covers.

This is what they were like then I got the car, before I stripped the red covers off.

Those look like oval seats. The backrests should be arched, yours are flat

Ah, ok. Thanks Very Happy

Is that seat base different as well or is it just the backrests?

Also, are the back seats different split to Oval?

Thanks, Rich.

The front seatbase is the same except for the springs I beleive, the rear bottem is split only and the rear backrest (frame) is the same as early oval-55. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on the rear seat backrest

I thought the entire rear seat frame up till 1955 were the same.

The front seat bases were he same till 1955

The front seat backrest 1950-52 had a more pronounced curve.
The front seat backrest 1953-55 were more upright

Not sure on the spring assemblies for the seats though. But I've seen early seat springs with very large circular coils

Those look like cloth seats for a 54-55 iceland green oval. Not sure from here, but looks close... Don't throw these away, I'm sure some would be interested here. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3...p;start=20

Split and zwitter/oval rear seats are different.

Split rear seats have two profiled ribs down the middle, zwitter and oval rear seats have only one.

Correct or not those seats look pretty sweet with that color. I dont know what your plans are, But If you are going with the lowered with wheels look I think I would keep that interior. Change the steering wheel though.

I'm wondering about the seats in my cars too. One is a '51 and the other is a '52 zwitter..The rear seat bottom in the zwitter has a "framework" that fits the heater baffles and battery and is made of flat strips of metal below the springs...The front seat bottoms have the same "framework" but is flat, but do not have the "curve" like the earlier front seat backs have..The '51's rear seat bottom is missing all the "framework" and pretty much is open if I remember correctly..I can't really think of how to accurately describe these..What is correct for each year?
My zwitter is a true October '52 car..The '51 is an early '51, but I can't remember which month exactly and doubt the seats are correct due to so many other parts being incorrect on the car..

My Polar Silver '56 has seats that look EXACTLY like those. Are your frames a tannish beige?

I think the stitching looks slightly different on the base. Can't remember the frame color, will look later.
