I was thinking about putting a dual master cylinder in my 65 Bus for safety reasons. Has anyone done it? And is there much invovled in doing it?
TIA

Just did it following Eric & Barbs article. Cut my own spacer out of 3/8" phenolic instead of paying Wolfgang $40 for their aluminum one. http://www.wolfgangint.com/html/SinglePartDisplay....1472958219

Used a 70's Rabbit reservoir ($4 from PickNPull) to match a new 70's bay M/C, had to get a new T-fitting and an extra 6" line for the front lines, and a couple longer bolts. Bent existing lines slightly to get everything to fit, and made a new shaft from a new metric bolt to connect to the pedal. Haven't tested it yet as the brakes still need to be adjusted and bled. All in all pretty easy to install, took several hours including parts fabrication time. The main problem locally is nobody stocks metric brake lines, T-fittings, etc. so I had to order them.

You mention in this thread using a "rabbit" master cylinder resevoir, would that be what we in the uk know as a "golf" and you say from the 70`s is that correct. Confused

Over here Golf & Scirocco came out in '74 and Rabbit in '75. I'll bet they're all pretty much the same reservoir. Even a 70's and maybe 80's Volvo reservoir will fit. Just make sure the distance between the nipples on the reservoir match the master cylinder. And buy new rubber seals for the top of the master cylinder where the reservoir plugs into it. Wink And a 1/2" or maybe even 5/8" spacer would be better than the 3/8" one I made. Then the filler on the reservoir will be that much closer to actually being under the hole in the floor.
