extra hole in front tin

hi,
could someone tell me why i have an extra hole in my front tin ?
i have 3 in total,2 for the heaters and 1 next to the right heater hole about the same size but i cant remember taking a pipe from there ?

it's for the stove pipe carb pre heat hose.

It's the hot air intake for the air filter. It's used to feed warm air intpo the carb on cold days.

that explains things I dont have a normal airfilter fitted I have a chrome round one
should I blank the hole with something?

No I'd shitcan the cheap after market filter and get the correct oil bath air cleaner then hook up the preheat as it should be......

I dont have that steel pipe that's on your photo going to the crankcase just to the left of the pully ?
