I thinks is loops around the rod in front, then stitches to itself.

Yes, As I understand, that webbing is there to help keep the rods aligned as you close the top. I guess the pull / tension would be on the webbing. Alot of ragtops no longer have this material, and this original webbing material is no longer available.
Would you please measure the length so I can make some out of nylon material.
I think the straps from a kids backpack would work. Going to search the Goodwill to fins a color I like.

Looking at your pics again I bet the end of the strap screws or is riveted to the piece in front. A loop would cause a bump in the top.

| the remaining strap(as pictured in the first post) was pinched between the roller mechanism and the plate on top of it held by two screws where it connects to the middle roller bar. i dont know if the po did this or it is factory as the sunroof mech has been recovered. i would like to make sure the parts i ordered are what i am looking for before i comment on where they came from. they should be here next week and i will post when they are in my hands. thanks |

| I made my own by going to the hardware store and getting a couple feet of strapping material that is over by the rope and cable or camping supplies. much cheaper and you fold the ends over once and use rivets to secure to the bar. |

Bad cell phone picture but when installed correctly the strap takes the strain instead of the canvas when closing.

Here are some better pictures. The front is riveted to the strap. I used a washer on each side for the rivet to hold onto.
