|
|
I am about to order some heater channels from Gerson to repair the ones in my May 53 oval.
since this is a transition year type of thing going from split to oval which channels would be more closely matched? the split channels or the oval ones that he makes?
a 53 still has the round heater outlets in front and rear like a split but what about the rest of the channel? i am assuming it would still be like a spilt but just want to make sure before i order.
if they are more closely like the oval ones i can put my heater outlets in them to make them more correct. _________________ Matthew Tolbert

The channels themselves will be the same. The main difference will be with the heater outlets in the front.
Early cars should have still had round outlets and later cars should have had the oval outlets with the screen.
I believe the outlets at the back would be the same.
Progressive refinements would probably have the info on when the change was made.

| I'm installing a set of Gerson channels on my 57. Moving the heater vents from the gill's to the round openings up front. It's pretty much the same. The heat intake on the early channels are about an inch closer to the front of the car so the big flat curved weld on the inside B pillar bottom on my 57 had to be ground down but other that it fit like a glove. |

Say what? A '57 would not have the round or oval outlets. Gerson makes the correct channel for your car, so you shouldn't have to modify anything |
