Sources for long block

OK, I discovered I have a crack in my engine case behind the oil cooler mounting tabs, so I guess it's time for a new long block. The current engine was built by Mark Stephens in California about 15 years ago, and I guess he is out of business now. Can anyone recommend an engine rebuilder that isn't to expensive for a reliable daily driver. Either stock or mild, but reliable.

AIf you can still get the VW Mexico or Brazil longblocks, you might want to do that, or else there are plenty of good engine builders around. You might want to check the engines forum here.
