I'm no expert but I'm guessing the spike during cold running has everything to do with the roofing tar(20-50) in the crankcase. |

The "ragtop" (large sliding sunroof) was last offered to the US market in the 1963 Deluxe model (Euro Standard models were not offered in the US). The ragtop continued on Standard non-US cars through 1967. For the Deluxe models starting in '64, whether US or non-US versions, the sunroof was the smaller steel sunroof.
Brazil and Mexico continued Beetle production after Germany stopped. The last German VWs to be produced were in 1978 (for 1979). Thus, the last model year for German beetles was early 1979. Mexibeetles continued to be produced until around late 2003 (I believe September). They are not up to US crash safety standards, so they cannot be registered in the US unless modified. _________________ -Kent (BaT "daleallen")

1967 was last model year to have a ragtop on standard beetles. 1979 was last year super beetles were manufactured in germany. i think 1977 was last year ball joint beetle made in germany. _________________ Admin note: Bill Passed away - July, 2017
