I plan on putting a set of heart tail lights on my Manx style buggy and was wondering if anyone here knows how or has wired a set to their buggy to have all the brake light functions (brake, running, turn)? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanx in advance.

Since the heart lights were only running and brake lights, wouldn't you need to somehow modify the brackets for a dual filament bulb for the turn signal portion as well, since the lights these came off of had semaphores for turn signals?

You could use a turn signal switch from a 61 type1. That was the last year vw used single bulb tail lights. Then just wire it up like a stock 61. I bought a reproduction switch in order to have every thing brand new. I,m using led tail lights and turn signals. It looks very cool with the lights mounted flush with the surface of the body.

Wait until it fails and you are driving without taillights and/or brakelights. That won't happen with the relay setup.

Carry a spare if your worried about it failing. I wired mine with a connector on both ends should take about 30 seconds to swap it out.
Relays also fail from time to time although probably not all four at the same time.

you can get a new pigtail for a duel filament and get another single for turn signal. drill a hole in the back of light housing and add new light. with a total of 2 bulbs in the housing. it will work fine.
