I forgot I even had this, and now that I remember, I don't remember where I got it from... Bob aka 53Oval, you seem to be the guru about crap like this, is this thing worth anything? Or anyone else
(I really don't know, I have no clue, and I'm thinking of selling it on evilbay, and I want to find a starting price that's reasonable, and yes I did a search and came up empty-handed, I saw photos oif them, but no discussion as to value....)
Oh, yeah, it seems to keep great time, as well....

Well Dave,
You have IMO, the "nicer" face, and you have it in the case. I can't tell much about condition from a picture, but from what I see; I'd start the eBay bidding at $300. I would not let it go for less than that. (wait......time out.....it should be a box not a case....$250. )

The case is Patek Philippe, so it's not the OG case FYI.
Julien
Edit : usually everything written Patek Philippe and OG is very very expensive (Oval53, you know heuer, I'm surprised you didn't spot that :p). I don't know much about luxury watches, but the case may be (I say may be, I'm really not sure) more expensive than your watch, if OG and in good shape... |

Read again Julien....................I did note that it was not in the proper box. I wasn't really looking at the case. BTW, I have several Cartier cases I'll be happy to sell you if you're thinking cases are worth that type of money _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." This was more a joke than anything else. I've read you noticed it was a case instead of a box, nothing more. Btw, this has no real importance...
Concerning the price of the case, I really don't know what is its price. And I'm not willing to buy one (or a Cartier one ) as I don't really like Pateks or Cartier watches. Well, I don't have the money either I've just read a few minutes before that a Patek rose gold brace bucle (I don't know if these are the right terms) sold for 1500$ recently. I found this price ridiculous enough for the case being potentially over 250$.
Well, btw, the point was not to offend. I know your knowledge is great and was only kidding (which may not have been appropriate...).
To get back to the topic. Aside from the VWfan point of view which could make this watch valuable, are those watch interesting from a "watch" point of view? Are these interesting as a vintage watch, or only as a VW goodie?
Thanks!

It's a VW thing..........The watches are really a cheap watch, but VW turned them into a collectible with the engraving. The one Dave is selling is OG and would make a VW collector (not watch collector) happy at $250. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." As always, when I need help with the off beat, esoteric, strange and unusual, VW items, I call on Bob. He is a wealth of always correct (well, ALMOST always, don't want to give him a swelled head) info on stuff I have no clue about.
Thank You, Bob, I appreciate your input and expertise on this.
Guess I better take some better photos and list it on the Samba....
without the case.
<edit> it's in the VW-Other- section of the Classifieds, if anyone cares.
YUSTRN, you're only $245.00 away from the asking price....
<edit it's on evilbay .now> _________________ 2003 Samba Chummie Winner- Best Story
