What a great photo! I'm surprised nobody has commented on it. It looks factory made, very clean lines. Any more information or other photos of this beetle?

What a superb photo. A wartime machine turned into a peacetime machine. Having said that, as this was one of the last Kubels made, it probably never saw much wartime action, if any.
Note the pivoting front tow hooks, a feature of very late production, plus the lack of windscreen wiper arm for the driver (no motor on passenger side), hence the dirty screen, plus a lack of spring clips on the scuttle to hold the dropped down windscreen, as obviously the screen was never intended to be dropped. |

That would be rebuilt these days of course. TPU is an Essex number plate issue, from October 1951 onwards, which ties in with what you say. |

Schwebebahn in Wuppertal. travels above the river Wupper for some 8 miles or so.
At the end it inverts and travels as a regular tram _________________ regards

Obviously German in design. Pure function, no pretense at any aesthetics. Brutal looking.
A French or Italian design would be curved and stylish. _________________ Current Fleet:

Like this Schwebebahn station?

What you see is a post-war building, quickly built with little money after the destruction in WWII. |

this is an april fool's joke creation by NSU, one of several, such as these motorised shoes. there was also an 'amphibious' NSU lambretta, inflatable motorcycle fairings, trombone exhaust pipes...ah, how we laughed!

Yes, much better!
Not faulting, I understand the economic reasons, admire them, actually. Just noting a cultural difference.
Our VWs are an example... nothing there that isn't functional, save for the trim. Even the beautiful curves on the bodywork all have a structural function. A flat panel "oil cans" but a curve stays stiffer with less thickness. _________________ Current Fleet:
