Well........
So my big day with my son is the 5th.....so what do I "decide" to do on the 1st?
Hell! Lets spend 16 hours in the ER getting some emergency surgery to remove an infected abscess in my inguinal (groin for you non-medical folks)area.
Fun times getting a "baseball" sized pocket of puss removed. It had been coming on for a couple of weeks. Asked one of my docs to take a look at it while I was gnd he said "looks like jock itch. Try this cream for 3 days".
Nope...DEFINITELY not jock it. Worst pain in my life....not even close to anything in the past. And trust me...the past year or so have not been the most procedure free for me
So I just finished pulling the packing out of the hole they made since the surgeon I was referred to wasn't available for several days so they suggested I pull it. About 18" of sneaker width shoelace type material coming out of this hole in the crease of my thigh. NOT NOT NOT fun.
I got TWO days to rest and heal before I head to Lime Rock with my sone. And no...he has no idea I was in the hospital all day yesterday.
Might be looking for one of those golf carts to get around but I WILL be there.....
And lastly....while I am venting...who the HELL tapes a piece of gauze onto the hair of your VERY sensitive man parts? A quick trim while I was out would have been VERY appropriate!
DAMN! |

Sadly yes.....the discharge instructions were to call a specific surgeon and schedule and appointment for "24-48 hours" after discharge. When I called that office I was told they had no appointments available and I should just remove the packing myself. They said it might feel "uncomfortable"....well DAMN YEAH it did!
Today I get to try to shower so I can go out and get my routine labs done.....
I am SO SO SO looking forward to the 5th where I can smile as I watch my son fly around LimeRock and see the look on his face.
This recent experience really pushed me mentally and physically to the edge and I need something to smile at and something to distract me QUICK! |

Had a GREAT day! My son HAD A BALL! He drove a bright yellow Lambo Hurracan.
Smiles ear to ear. GREAT day for me.
Pics to follow as soon as he sends them to me. For now here is just one of him in the Lambo on the track. The company was generous enough to give me a complimentary photo/video package so I will have some better ones to post soon.
Of course I wake up today and find 3 lumps back in the same area they drained the abscess so its off to the surgeon again on Monday to see whats going on.
This is so draining on my family.... |

So.....apparently my little abscess was a little more complicated than just your routine abscess. Throw in a healthy does of cellulitis and, for added fun, throw in some ecoli.
Good news from today is its healing well. The swelling will take a week to go down. Pain is greatly reduced. It just feels like I have two ping pong balls under my skin at the "fold" where my hip attaches to my groin.
Surgeon was confident it will go away by the time I am done with my antibiotic.
Bad news.....antibiotics make me feel sick as a dog. Good thing I need to lose some weight after being on some steroids for my tumor
Its all a mental game. I need to get out and move but antibiotics makes me feel like I have the flu with headache, bodaches and no energy.
Gonna get back to some walking and get my legs back. I keep telling myself its just a mental battle right now. And I made a promise to my family which means that while something physical can take me down, nothing mental will.
So happy day! My son had an awesome time driving the Lambo, I had a great time watching him, AND i don't have to go under the knife again. (For now)
Whoo hoo! |

An absolute WONDERFUL day for me and my son. Something he will hopefully look back upon fondly after I am gone.

Fantastic news.
Please post up some pics of your son on the skid pad in his Jetta.
Also a few pics of your lifted GLI that you bought from Chris.
I don't think Chris builds anything that isn't lifted.
I recommended his shop to my daughter. After her 20 Atlas came off the boat from Germany. Her brakes were making an odd noise and Chris quoted a shop cost of 1/3 what the dealer wanted to look at it. _________________ I have learned over the years.
