The baby dels have a "balancing hose" that runs between them after the throttle plate. If I install an aftermarket breather box running a hose from the stock breather box to connect the balancing tube to the breather (case) is this correct? It seems as though the balancer hose should remain intact doing what it's supposed to do and the hose from the breather box should attach to the carbs above the throttle plates at the air cleaner plates.
I hooked it up the first way and the idle dropped somewhat. Do I even need another breather box or should I just let the hose that originally attached the stock aircleaner to the stock breather box hang down behind the motor? |

I had the same setup as you. My balance tube goes from one carb to the other. For the tube off the top of the breather, I removed that and replaced it with a little filter you can get from any VW parts store that attaches to the same spot the hose came off the breather, so the hose is now gone.
I have now replaced the stock breather with one of these.
