I have always been a fan of the Thing, and after not finding a Jeep as a beach cruiser, thinking maybe can find a perfect thing?

a.) A "Concours" Thing used as a beach cruiser? Shocked

b.) If you couldn't find a Jeep to use as a beach cruiser, you won't be able to find a Thing. There were only 64,000 181s made in North America versus 611,000 Jeep CJ-5's (that's just CJ-5's, mind you. Doesn't include CJ-7s, TJs, YJs, ad infinitum.)

In 2005, a Thing sold at Barrett-Jackson for $38,800.
Is that "concours" enough for your tastes?

$38k for a car that has little or nothing to do with an "original" Thing.

The paint is wrong, the seats are wrong, the steering wheel wrong, and and and...

It's a pretty typical grossly overpriced Barret Jackson car.

For that kind of cash, I could have a fleet of very nice air cooled VWs and a Porsche or two as well.
