Hey guys. I sold my bug months ago but I now have a restaurant and been planning car shows. I have had one so far with East Tennessee Mopar association and have another one in the works for Street rods. The mopar people are doing another with us in September.

I know you guys are loving the Seveirville show each year and was wondering if you'd like to do a Knoxville show about the same size?

I have a 5 acre field next to my restaurant that we are using for car shows. I'd say I could fit around 80 VW's in that field. I do not charge any fees. All I want is the show to draw customers Smile I also love being involved with anything related to cars! If an organizer wants to organize the show and charge fees for covering the cost of trophies etc.. please let me know.

We already have live entertainment (music) and more bands in the waiting for events such as this.

Let me know via email if your interested. [email protected] please visit our site www.spankys-grill.com
You could also post here to show your interest.

Thanks,
Chad

I should be able to make it. I'll even try to round up a few other "airheads" from Roane county.

The shows are put on by AVWA(Ermal Washam). He may have a number on his website,avwa.com. Do you know when you will have a show(next month ,next year)? Just wondering. It would be nice to have more vw shows around here. Too many muscle car shows, almost one every weekend.

The samba is the best place to get people.. I dont think I would attend if it was put on by AVWA
To many problems, they put alot of thing on there fliers they dont abide by.. There two shows the hold is plenty for me by this group. Might be different change to get some one else to do a show..

Im thinking August 4th would be a good Saturday event.
I'll just be coming back from a business trip from OK City but it should be ok.

I have posted at Volks Folks forum. Hopefully they will be interested. I checked their events schedule and it looks like an open day for them.

Yes please do! I have been to many of his shows and are always good events!

Good luck with the gathering. It will take local and internet advertising to get the folks out. Not Everyone has internet access.

I may be wrong , But I have never seen the avwa comunicate with the vw comunity outside there own shows. Most shows or events there is a contact person or something . I know I have e-mail them a few times never get anything back. I see this as the 1 problem.IMO they put on nice shows but there is plenty of room for change for the better along with everything i guess. Confused

The problems I have had in the past was, Being a vendor on there flier it states unlimeted space to vendors? Well I did a show last year Ihad three canopies set up and had one vendor move some of my things after I set up the night before. When I complained about my personal stuff being moved by another vendor I was told that I could not have three canopies set up because I was taking to much space.. Well on the flier it saids unlimited space per vendor. When I told them this they told me it did not state that and I was lieing!!
There fliers still state that unlimeted space for vendors..
I know at there last show they held they started a Non judged area park your cars a dont worry about judging. Well there was a few that had a problem with that. You can read that else where on the Samba forums left by the person that had the problem!!!!

Now once you get past the bull crap its a good show. I just makes sure ever time I attend now I bring there flier for proof on what they wrote..

Like Volkswagenut said it would sure be nice if you could get ahold of these people by phone as well.. There is never away to contact them. They do have one number thats posted but you never get anyone but a answering machine and they never return calls.

Maybe try these guys they do a great show... http://www.volksfolks.org/

? Did you have to pay to get in under that area or what, Just wondering.

on there site it advertises for the Non show area but never states that you have to pay or not. This is what I and Vintage volks I think are talking about. Its very vague and leads to confusion and disagreements.

No, It cost anything to park there. Paid to get in to the show like everyone else. I think they need a sign for it. I asked the guy(forget his name)at the gate and he told me where.

How true it is I dont know. I just know about my vendor spot. I did not have a problem at the May show.. Im planning on going to the Knoxville show so I have no hard feelings there..(Thats the past)
