Dodge and Chevy guys feel the same way about what he does to their cars.
Personally I like a lot of what he does, but he better never touch a 356. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

I like it.
I would just move the trim back up, take the crap off the rocker, put a emblem back on the front, move the front signals back up, weld up the extra skylight.....
oh, wait thats how it was before it got foosed up. _________________ www.cultwagen.com |

It's the nose and the side trim that make me want to barf. It looks like a someone walked through the WW warehouse and just started grabbing stuff, saying "ok, where could we stick this?" |
well, they didnt have space in the shopping cart while grabbing parts from the bins or they just forgot... where is the eng lid seal? where is the lic light bulb holder boot? detail, details
and the radio/cd location just so impractical. I will like to see you driving and changing stations or trying to see what station you are on??? lots of other options or remotes and no need to see the radio in the dash |

Damn, that was a long, boring, painful thread.
It's not as obviously horrific as you guys made it out to be. Actually, the fifth skylight, while wrong, was seemingly an obvious factory omission, can't deny how perfectly it fits. Hey, it's got a nice new interior, and looks like they got most of the rubber replaced. I didn't look at all the pictures, but let's just say it's not as bad as this:

I beg to differ. The fifth skylight looks clunky. It doesn't conform to the shape of the roof and is superfluous because no one sits back there. The other mods are easily reversible but that hack kills that bus.

I guess nobody has anything nice to say about this bus. Everyone that helped out in this effort in time and money seems to be getting in bash in this thread indirectly. Hot Dog Fred was a good choice to get his bus overhauled, but this was the chance he took with someone's artistic talent. I think this thread should be locked just for the simple reason that its turned into a bus bashing thread and it should be directed into the "Official whine thread". It's to bad Foose didn't have enough time to think this one out creatively or has just been wrapped up in old American cars for too long and this one was to much to tackle. I don't think anyone can say that the effort wasn't there from all the people that helped here in this community. If all else fails he can sell the bus on Ebay take the money and buy a nice 21 or 23 window. _________________ Think big drive a bus...

Those cars are "sold" all the time within days of the re-build..........but ownership is not transfered. I know a guy who sold his the day after the show aired, for BIG money. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

Congratulations Fred, I think your bus is beautiful... The deluxe trim makes her look longer. The mods were so subtle that they had to be pointed out to me. Enjoy your bus.

Couldn't agree more, should have thrown away the key the first time it was locked. If we put up all the horrific buses that punks punk-out for us to all rip on, we'd be busy for years, a veritable funeral dirge. On a positive note, if it weren't for such Hackasours, we'd never have anything to be proud of with our own uncircumcised buses, or for that matter, the skills we've all learned in order to un-fuck subjects like this current... thing.
Hey, all bet it's fast as hell though. I hope they gave Fred the emblem back, it is, in my mind, the heart and soul of the bus. Irreplaceable. |

Not nuts about the low deluxe trim - but I do like how it ties into the tail lights though. _________________ Gerg

It looks better than a original crusty bus. I mean, how many original crusty, rusty, primer spotted busses do we need to see. Too bad they didn't Overhaul the Boxrod, but that would have taken a month. |
The "American Iron " 50's style side trim treatment ends in a crest at the front and the crest looks out of place. It should've been centered in the middle of the dogleg (in between where the seam used to be) it looks odd being positioned too far to the front of the bus. Front script looks like something I would have done when I was 19. I was looking forward to seeing the show, but not now. What a waste of an original bus. Top quality workmanship though. The plain Jane interior looks out of place. It doesn't match the rest of the customizing. Why not go all of the way? Looks like they ran out of $$ and went cheap on the interior. The rocker "flares" have been done before...only when others have done it was referrred to as a fixarust hackjob. |
Man thats one UGLY bus... Just seen these pictures for the first time. Thats the worse overhaul car I have ever seen. I would have sold that bus quick.. Motor and interior looks good and thats about it. _________________ 59 Ragtop
