This was something that I posted a while ago and I thought it was a pretty good philosophy. I thought some of you guys out trying to waste time would enjoy this.
Here is how I look at it. Your bound to get into accident eventually...either your fault or the other driver. Think of driving a bus as if it were a brick. May seem a little drastic...but continue reading... These beauties are pretty solid... how often do you see fatal accidents with a bus involved? These "bricks" can't move very fast, thats a plus. On the road most people are going to look at you as another object to dodge around and get out of its way because its driving to slow. Stay in slow lane and enjoy every minuet that it milks out of its old organ in the back. Keep up on its regular maintenance, like taking your kid in for a check up at the doctors and the "brick" will give you its best for as so you give it its "check ups". Educate yourself on this rare bird. Don't trust just any mechanic... learn to do these things yourself and teach your kid someday. So all in all the Bus was a all around family vehicle from day one. Drive defensively, but safely, slowly, and know that you are the object that everybody wants to get around because your that old thing that goes slow and people risk their lives even more going faster to get around you. Everybody is right on "don't get hit head-on", besides that a big no no even in todays vehicles. I think getting a bus now is a great idea as long you don't take your anger out onto the road. When you get one as long as you love the bus it will love you back most of the time. It will need to have a rest once in a while. It almost 40 years old! If you live where they use salt on the roads during the winter, don't drive your Bus in the winter. I promotes Bus cancer (rust) and also is a factor when buying one. Be very careful when you buy a bus to look for rust. So safety is not a thing to worry about as long you are not a insane driver and understand how the bus wants to be driven and how other people look at you as your driving. _________________ 1976 Bus (72 T4 engine)

If you have a 73 or later "loaf" then you have a chance in it with the safety front end..
Early "loaf" smash up onto your legs, not good. _________________ 70 Ghia Black convert-9/69 build date-stock w/133k 1600 SP-barn find now with a rebuilt tranny and engine

Philosophy makes my head hurt.
I'd rather live it than read it. |
