I am planning a trip in Florida from Jan 1-9 and was hoping to get some info on renting a bus. I would rent from a company or a indivual. My plans are traveling the west coast and going as far as the keys. Any info would be great.
Thanks, Dexter |

I'd be surprised if you find such a rental in Florida. I know of two or three places in California that do this but none in Florida. I used to live in Florida (east of Orlando) and Vanagons just weren't as popular there as on the west coast.
Why not just buy one, use it for the duration, and then re-sell it it you don't want to keep it ? |

well there used to be a place in Vermont & the "New England" rentals had moved to Washington DC vicinity..
but both websites aren't currently operational.
you can still find their contact info via the Way Back Machine at www.archive.org

and contact info
check here for VW camper rentals.

I also vote for buying one then taking your time and reselling if you still don't want to own it afterwards..
I drove mine from NY to Fl and back 2years ago, and am planning a return trip in 2010 see my Sig link below Sunshine Treffen 2010.

Even if such an individual was out there, I wouldn't recommend renting from them unless you knew them personally and could trust them to have stayed on top of maintenance.
Running up and down the gulf coast of Florida is one thing, but there are TWO places in the state I wouldn't dream of taking an unknown Vanagon unless I was 150% sure it could absolutely positively make it without incident - one is heading east from Naples across the bottom of the state to either Ft Lauderdale (I-75) or Miami (US-41). The other is US 1 between Homestead and Key West. |

I found that link enjoyable!
I Definately would not let anyone drive my van.
except for my parents, sister(maybe), and best friend who is planning on getting a syncro.
good luck on your search though it is unlikely.... _________________ 1990 Vanagon Carat-SOLD
