I want to put some retractable seat belts in my 68...can it be done how what is needed etc.

Erik dug up that old thread, like I said I put some in both 68 and 69's and used 72? 73-74 belts which are identical to the 73 and later Bug belts except the mounting bracket... so finding some usuable Beetle ones may be an option. just need to make an "L" bracket instead of what they come with.
the threaded boss for the upper mount point is on these year (68-later) Ghia coupe bodies... not sure if it is present on earlier thatn that though.
Like the other link in that old thread sez too, it is possible to use other belts from other donor cars but you may have to do a bit more engineering to make them work

I read the thread it is interesting. I kinda sorta wish I has wrecking yards around here like that. My 68 Ghia Coupe does have the upper mounting bolt in the rear. I just like the idea of retractables. My '73 std bug has them. I wonder if that style would work?
