If a Delorean has paint, chances are it's been hit. |
I've inspected the body panels myself, there is a small crease on the passenger door about 2" long under the paint. Nothing major and it can certainly be fixed. I'm choosing to keep it painted though. But yes, some are painted because they've been hit harder and the repairs/replacement costs are significantly more than having it painted. |

How true that is. People seem unsatisfied with a painted DeLorean. |

The DeLorean was the 1st car with autopilot...
It would follow the white line down the road...

Ah yes, I heard that one quite a few times. Seems appropriate to have it painted white. |

About three days ago I was driving in Berkeley and saw a red Delorean pass by. I thought, "why is it painted?"
About three years ago I was working for a guy that collects stuff and he tried to sell me his Delorean with bad electronics/wiring.
I passed.
About a month ago I was at a friend's house and I noticed he had a small mirror with coke residue on it so I dabbed the glass with a finger and it tasted tangy, like mild baking soda.

Weren't some DeLoreans painted originally? I seem to remember reading that somewhere and seeing a picture of lot of new ones with a few of them painted. _________________ All he needed was a wheel in his hand and four on the road.

I thought so too and was curious so I did a bit of reading. Looks like the factory only painted three cars for testing. But in the last year of production, they did have a service bulletin with a recommended painting procedure. So dealers probably painted a few, but not many compared to total production.

None were actually proven to be painted by the factory but the factory did do some test painting on body panels with not a good amount of success with what they were looking for. They wanted transparent paint so the brushed finish could show through the paint. However, some dealers did have DeLoreans painted before they sold them. |

I've seen a red delorean... I wasn't expecting white when I clicked here. By the way, how much does going through a drive thru suck, when they try to hand you food through that window? Since you like ghias and drive a delorean, you should look up John Kelly at Ghia Specialties... he fabricates gull wing doors for ghias. Oh, and you knew you had this coming....

Haha, I totally saw that coming. I've never seen gullwings on a Ghia, I'm going to check that out. Must look pretty weird though. As far as the drive through thing, it's not too difficult, it's just that whenever you get a supersized meal, you have to tilt the bag and drink hoping nothing falls out. I have only done this once just for the sake of feeding my curiousity. |
Just wondering...Am I the only one that didn't know that the windows don't roll down? _________________ HBB
