Thanks for all of the replies, I did end up taking my 55 Oval to Metricautohaus, Monk was full at the time. |

I had body work done on my 911 and my Ghia at Karosserie
703-876-6300 Prosperity Rd. Fairfax, VA Lewis Hauser
These guys at Karosserie are first class and you will not find a better body shop in the DC region. They specialize in total restoration of Porsche 356s. I go by there ocasionally just to see some of the cars they are working on. I saw them do a real 550 spyder once. |

VW Joe up in Severna Park, MD does this kind of work. I just had him do about 20 minor jobs to my 72 Ghia vert. He also has lots of parts for sale and a collection of parts cars.

If you are looking for top quality work and don't mind driving, Morthside Automotive in Madison is the place. Billy Ridgeway's 63 Ragtop was a HVWs feature car a few months back and is a regular show winner, ,Billy works there with Grant. Billy and I both were at Vw Restorations and Customs in Manassas in the 80's. I won't detail why Paul is unreachable but he does still do some work. Just not at the Conner Drive shop.
I highly recommend Northside for anything from pans or dents to full show quality restorations. _________________ 62 Ragtop under serious construction

I will second Northside Auto. I am currently having a bus done at that location and the work is top notch. Grant has been great to work with. _________________ 71 Dormobile "The Sub"

Why not ask peek/metric/lewis/monk what they'd charge you? Take your car to them and get 4 estimates! _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

Rails?...I take it Heater Channels, at Peek Performance, Dave, now it is 2 Dave's there I don't know which one said this but, Dave said it would be $3000 a piece, just the Heater Channels....I believe I was looking like BIG $$$$ that day or really Stupid, don't know but I didn't even ask about Floor pans there, depending on what you need at Metric Autohaus the heater channels are about $3200 to $3800 for both, not sure about floor pans but I know it is reasonible.
Also Monk 703-339-7272, at a shop in Lorton Va. can't recall the name but been there too, does Quality work on floors & H/C, very nice guy to work with. |

I went to Peak too, and they quoted me a really high price too. I didn't know if that was the average price, but didn't want to drive all around to get the same price. I know I need one rail/heater channel done, and partial floor pan, but would rather not spend 3000 dollars to get that done. |

So your BIG$$$ too huh...hopfully you didn't spend that, the other places are cheaper but the work they do is excellent. |

i order a centerfill one
Get there and i grab it
ANd they say that its not mine and the centerfill ones are $200+

Ok, so to revive an old thread:
There are a few clubs around. There is us, Pan Air VWs, at Panairvws.com, and the VW cruisers at VWcruisers.org.
Peek has closed unfortunately, murphys motorsports closed, too.
There is one shop no one has mentioned. Mark1vws in Walkersville MD. Mark is a great guy and has helped me out a lot.
Grant and Northside are top notch. They hang out with our club a lot.
Buggy Man is a neat little place, with surprisingly a lot of things in stock.
If anyone else has any others please update the thread. I'd love to buy things locally and support a local shop. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980
