No, not just once a month. I am always in the mood to call out a douchebag when he's acting all douchy. I think the difference (and I could be wrong) is that I have a sense of humor about it while jizzmilker gets all flustered and pissed off about it, and then won't let it go. So it gets dragged out into a big annoying clusterfuck which then has to be cleaned up by the moderators. _________________ RIP HBB

I think it's a well established fact that more people around here would rather roll any of Roach's abortions than even step foot into those by jismmilin. |
jismmilin is clueless when it comes to taste and what is a common mod. The headlights in this picture are a common mod to a Ghia. |
Shorty buses appear to be a common mod, too. Does that make them acceptable? You guys fucking crack me up with your judgments of other people's taste. I love this thread. |
Nice to compare apples to bowling balls A shorty bus mod is a drastic change to the vehicle of zero value. The Type 1 headlight to the Ghia mod is a subtle change that doesn't affect the vehicle's carrying capacity, turning radius, or the like.

what i'm thinking, full bodied "baja" ghia trimmed here and there...
7.00x15 tires all around and about 15" ground clearance
early type 3 lights so I can trim the fat up in back

Right on, thanks man!
I have seen a few baja Ghias out there, both done nicely and not so nicely. It's an interesting idea, and it can be made to look cool, but it's not something I would do just because the Ghia body is so sleek and sporty looking, so it doesn't seem to mesh well with the tall, knobby, rough off-road kind of thing. The coolest one I have ever seen was so hacked apart that it was basically just a cockpit and tubing. The nose and decklid areas were both cut completely off, so it kinda looked like a choptop baja bug kind of thing, with huge tires and an ultra wide stance. But if you decide to start cutting, just do us all a favor and don't give up in the middle of the project and leave it in a field to rust away! Follow through with it! I hate seeing major projects partway finished then abandonned.
Oh, and BTW, The Ghias that were produced in Brazil came factory with type3 style tail lights so that wouldn't be so off-the-wall. That's something that I eventually wanted to do with my ghia abortion too! _________________ RIP HBB

I'll never forget you bending those type3 rear fenders in half after the Classics to fit in your Ghia on the way home and some people looking at you like WTF?!!! _________________ It's not about the window, it's about the people.

LMAO! I forgot about that. Yeah, what better way to fit a $10 squareback swapmeet rear fender inside a Ghia? _________________ RIP HBB

Look around, dude. Nobody is in agreement with you. I think maybe it's time to shut the fuck up and quit making a fool of yourself.
Just a friendly suggestion.
BTW, since I've got the stage (thanks jizzinmales!) and since I am a picture whore, here are more pictures of my old Ghia abortion:
Took it on a camping trip up hwy 1 along the california coast. Had a great time!

And a motor shot. This was the 2056 type4. I later built up a 2270 which I am rebuilding right now to put into my 58 rag bug.
The reason I needed to flare the fenders, nice FAT, sticky front tires:

Thanks for clearing all of that up for me. I did not realize the difference.
As for your question, I'm not even sure how to answer that. How about "yes". I have been building and driving air cooled VW's since 1986. I just don't have to post pictures of my cars with full explanations every three pages to get the affirmation from my peers that I am doing it right.
I am not sure why you even asked me that question. Was it supposed to be an insult? Try harder next time. I will give credit when credit is due. _________________ Confusious say it takes it takes two wipes to know you need three, but it takes three wipes to know it only needed two. |

Icy doesn't post pictures of his car every 3 pages to get affirmation from his peers. He has one thread about a beetle he is working on, and that's the only place I remember him posting pictures.
Or wait, were you directing that insult at me? I don't post pictures of my cars every 3 pages, jmsmilin does because he feels inadequate. I just usually respond with more pictures, because I am a picture whore. No need to get all butthurt about it. _________________ RIP HBB

That wasn't directed at anyone in particular, it just seems as though the only folks that get any respect on here are the ones that are here posting and chirping constantly. I happen to like your Ghia. Except for the color. _________________ Confusious say it takes it takes two wipes to know you need three, but it takes three wipes to know it only needed two. |

No, a cutoff wheel actually. A sawzall wouldn't have provided the precision cuts necessary to complete the bug headlight conversion. A sawzall did play a part in the 2 rear flared fenders on that car though. The fronts were done with only a hammer and dolly.
Jizzinmales, we have already been over this. My old Ghia has appeared in this thread already. Do you really want to stir up some shit again, get your ass handed to you again, get all butthurt again, cry to the moderators again, and then disappear for a few weeks AGAIN?
Really? |
I just love the fact that now Jizzinmales has earned himself a nickname! Seriously Jered, post up some pics of your ride, or do you even have one? If I'm not mistaken a car you said you built made its way into this thread some time ago.
YOu bounce around every forum like a lil postwhore that you are yet from what I've seen in your post and from what EVERYONE that met you the weekend we traded cars you don't know as much as you think. Start a thread about your ride if its so much better (if you even have one) and stop trying to bash those that ARE working/driving their VW's.
Oh and by the way that nice '59 I got from you is coming along nicely! _________________ 1970 Lotus White Panel
