|
|
I have heard of some folks using (ready for this) Rhino spray-on truck bed liner as an undercoating for the entire belly pan!
The more I think about it, the more it makes sense, though. For that matter, it makes sense as a protectant for inner wheel wells, the underside of the body, perhaps in the firewall and luggage compartment.
Rhino sprays their material on commercial applications, and even mentions automotive applications on their website. http://www.rhinoliningsindustrial.com/Proven/transportation.html And, you can paint over it, if you wish. If not, it is black.
What do you folks think?

I'm planning on doing not only the underside and fenderwells of my baja in Rhino lining but also the interior floor pans. Oh and you can get rhino lining matched to pretty much any color you want. Friend of mine got the floor pans in his jeep done to match the upholstery. _________________ At this point in my life I have four loves. I just finished welding in new pan halves. seam sealed the top and bottom
rustbullet the top and bottom. then used a two part bedliner called
hippoliner bought at a local autoparts store for 50 bucks stuff is as tough
as nails nothing is coming thru this pan. heard linex and rino are pretty
spendy just another option.

Spendy? Well maybe...What you get is a superior product. You can spend $50 for a gallon of the do-it-yourself stuff. On a floor pan (if brought to me stripped) I would charge maybe $150 to $200, depending on a lot of factors. I would also spray 3 to 4 gallons of material on. On floor pans it's good to spray thick (200+ mils) for sound dampening. A long bed truck can have up to 5 gallons. _________________ '73 Super

on my 62 nova the floor pans had a lot of surface rust, nothing so ba i had to patch. after i cleaned it up i used a gallon of that generic rino coat from the parts store. it worked great and sticks like a champ. even helped reduce sound levels in the car. i suggest using the truck bed liner stuff instead of regular under coating. _________________ Show me a man with a tattoo and I'll show you a man with an interesting past. ~Jack London
