|
|
Hi Volks, I made some moves and now German Perfection owns the "Davesport" Bug!!! I think this is the coolest Bug we could have found and now it is back in Denver!! It does work really well, and we took it for some runs in Nevada and were really pleased. the previous owner took great care of this Bug and kept it in operating condition, including making some improvements. We are planning a thorough clean up, a full rewire, and some other things. Progress will be put in this thread! I'm going to start a shop thread soon. Enjoy the pics for now!
Full Specs:
2016cc type 1 motor
dual 44 webers
Bus 091 box custom gears, custom nose cone with Power take-off
Front a-arms with axles, look to be possibly MK2 VW
Datsun front differential
"slip-yoke" between the front seats for rwd or awd
fiberglass front end, fiberglass w-decklid
Beard seats
custom coil over suspension front and rear
skidplates and tow hooks

Awesome car. I have watched some vids of it in action and it is impressive. I would love to see this car resto'd a bit, freshened up, if you will. It would be great to see how it is all out together. Nice find and good luck. _________________ 1974 Super Beetle

An AWD bug? Your going to get asked a lot of questions. Like: Do you have any pics of the trans and its nose cone?
Do you have more pics of the car in general? _________________ Toyotas are so bumpy it makes me sick, literally.

I took a ride in the car last night and it was a lot of fun and very quick. Sounds like Ian's plans are to freshen it up, definitely do some brake work, and some wiring.
I am really hoping in the future that German Perfection starts replicating some of the work that was done on this car with Subaru drive trains, but time will tell. |

Can i be on your team?
Sorry, thats not serious question, i just really want to get into auto racing. Any kind for me except 1/4 mile drag. That just dosent seem to be that.....hard. Dont red light, dont spin tire, shift at the right time, brake at the right time, now go make adjustments to your motor and suspension. _________________ Toyotas are so bumpy it makes me sick, literally.

in the pic that shows the interior and roll bar- the stock holes in the passenger door show an odd striped orange glow... are the exterior door skins fiberglass as well?
just wondered...
nice rig... looks like it deserves to be raced.
well done! |

The previous owner also used the doors as storage for a few spare parts and fan belts. Lots of interesting little things with this car. |

czech it out!!
1/2 the hinge stays on the body, 1/2 on the door
the pins are really cool, one pin has only 1/2 a tang for the lower hinge because it's so close to the body, the pins have a button on top that you push and a little ball on the bottom moves and then you can take it out of the hinge, takes me about 1 minute for on/off, very quick and simple
one cool blue door
hope that helps!! _________________ All your Buses are belong to us.

Got it locked in AWD for the first time and drove it on some snow packed roads around my shop, pretty smooth and hooks up real nice. Still amazed at this Bug everytime I drive it. _________________ All your Buses are belong to us.

I had it for 10 years and I loved every single drive I took in it!
Never got old!
I must say that its great that a vw person was able to take the torch and run with it. It would have broken my heart if an idiot had taken it home and destroyed it. You see it every day when looking at used cars! |

When I saw this up for sale I almost pulled the trigger, glad to see it made it to Denver!
I will be dropping by sometime soon, congratulations on the purchase. |
