I also think the idea of a German text release first was actually very smart. The people who have helped find parts, work on little details of No. 6, and generally be very supportive on a daily, weekly or irregular basis are rewarded quickly.... they see the results on their coffee table quickly...
That also allows those of us who are German text challenged a choice... we get the book anyway, and learn some words and admire the beautiful pictures..... or we wait for the Translation... Correct and accurate translations don't happen overnight either...
I can only read German text in a very limited fashion, so I bought the OG text version because I desire to learn and admire.... and if/when an English version comes, I will also buy that so I can read with more detail, and so my kids can also read it...
Well done to all of the team in getting the book out so quickly... we admire all the work you did from day one... the daily checking of The Samba is proof of that over the past few years...
For me, I made a trip from one side of the world to the other to see the little car in the early days... when it was just a rusty old shell, just like what many of us have in the garage in some form of restoration.... I was very lucky to be able to see No. 6, as well as other collection pieces and was very grateful of that. I look forward very much to seeing the car in completion one day in the future.
Until then, I have some German words to learn and some amazing pictures to admire.... All for the princely sum of $30 Aussie Dollars...
I don't think anyone is sending their kids to University on that return.... the book is one of the highest quality made books I have ever seen or touched...
Certainly much better quality than my old French textbooks  |

Yes I can... Unfortunately I was not the one giving the tour, but only the visitor |
Must have been awesome to have seen them in person..I would have to drive it daily..Despite the fact that alot of people may not recognize it as the oldest privately owned VW.

Today I received a very nice birthday present in my mailbox, the VW38 book...
It really is a fantastic book, congratulations to everyone involved, great work !!!
Now I will start reading (german language lesson, session one...)

So how often is the old man driven? I'm sure that with it being 1 of 2 prototypes known, no too often. But I mean shoot, rural Germany, there can't be that many people around who would run into it. Also, has anyone been able to identify it out in public that isn't part of this site? Or do they just generalize it as being "another old beetle?"
