Where did you find that one? I have been thinking of doing the same thing for summer's sweaty palms.

PM westfab, he found them on amazon for 15 bucks or so, and its like the one i have (which works well when you need it too)

I actually found it a my local auto parts store (O'Reilly's) for just under $5. I think I may have preferred a tan/brown color but all they had was black, grey, and kind of a taupe color...but black is fine too.

Was it designed for the large diameter wheel, or did you just stretch it enough to fit? It seems that most of the time when I see them they say that they will fit up to a 13" wheel or something.

Nowhere on the box did it specify what size it was designed for but it was pretty stretchy. It did take an extra set of hands to fit it around the wheel.

I just came from the local O'Reilly's. The one black vinyl lace up style wheel cover they had gave no indication of what size wheel it would fit. The counter guy looked it up for me, and was not able to find any info on what size wheel it would fit, nor could he see if other sizes were available. He tried to assure me that it would stretch enough to fit my wheel, but when I asked if I could return it if it ripped, he said no. I left without it.

So what brand were you looking at? Dan and I have the Superior.
http://www.sup-auto.com/catalogs/sportgrip.pdf Look at the bottom where Superior Sport Grip and Truckline are. It tells sizes. The first one I got around 2000 was the Sport Grip and it stretched for the bus and was good all those years. But then the one I got last year wouldn't stretch that far. But the Truckline does however be careful. The big selection is on Amazon. I was disapointed the Sport Grip wouldnt stretch this time because I like it better. Although it fits my bug just fine.

I forgot to write down the brand name, and I didn't pay attention close enough to recall. The packaging looked similar to those in the link you provided.

I am going to check a few other FLAPS before I buy online. Buying local is my preferred method of shopping.

Save yourself the time and effort...the one from O'Reilly will fit...if you are nervous get it nice and warm (hair dryer, put in the sun on the sidewalk...) to make it extra stretchy. As mentioned above...I just performed this task yesterday...plus it was only $5.

What did I do....well I dropped it off to get it raised to stock height.....and maybe have the brakes repaired. Was going to freshen those myself but since the pedal went long all of a sudden about two blocks from the shop...scary. It was on my list of stuff to do but since I have only had the bus for six days, I had not figured on the brakes needing attention so soon. I also ordered every bushing I could get for the shift rod and once I get it home (and fit under it!) I will take care of that. I could use new rubber for the shift coupler but I am not sure where to get good ones that would not rot away in a year. Got an 019 on the way and hopefully new 185's from Bus Depot in a week. Hmmm, I guess that's more like "what I am gonna do...".

zip tied the second battery relay into a solid place finally. yay

gonna have to clean my starter cables again, and check the rest of my grounds...sitting on 13.9 instead of 14.6 again. batt light barely comes on when brights, fogs, and blinkers are on.

Looks good. And that's where you got them but what brand were they? The bad brand and the good brand? And was there a part number or style?

The one I bought from O'Reilly's is made by Custom Accessories and is just labeled "Steering Wheel Cover".

Yeah it's totally just a generic box with very little info.

Here is a picture of renewed motivation to get the bus finished. She is willing to learn everything about it. It gets one day a week of attention. Plan to be on the road next summer.

This. I just went back to O'Reilly's and bought one, and installed it yesterday. It just barley stretched to fit, but it made it. The directions are really vague, but I figured it out. Took the bus out to the County Fair tonight. I like the new cover. Feels great!

I drove my bus about a hundred miles. The biggest test since I obtained it last fall and the most I've driven a bus in about eight years. I got an inspection, registration, insurance, a functional spare tire. Camping tomorrow night with the family!

Drove her for 30 hours and just about 1300 miles from Denver CO to San Jose CA for my new job...

She ran quite good all the way here. Did 55-60mph keeping the RPMs to about 3300 to 3600 for the enitre run.

Got it home!! Removed the chimney and unlatched the old school wood garage door to get it level, rolled it in scraping the top... but it is in the garage!! Very Happy (excuse to lower it!)

After latching door in place with slight hang. Have minute clearance now at the top of the door, but the with the door hanging slightly down, the bus cannot clear the bottom of the door (makes it harder to steal Laughing )
