So.
After all the nice feedback I got in the Samba I decided to get my van some sound proofing.
After all the reading online and in this forum, I chose the Second Skin product line. I bought the Second sking Factor Five Roadster kit (set me back north of $500), their wooden roller, and a can of their spray adhesive.

I did the rear hatch, sliding door, areas next to the rear bench seat, being the kitchen, and under the floor. I have yet to, but will, do the right rear panel (where the window washer fluid thing is), the front doors, and floor in the drivers and passenger areas. Not sure I will ever get up and under the dash (too much work).
Everywhere that there was room, I did a layer of DamplifierPro, then glues one the Luxury Liner pro, and then a layer or two of Reflectix.
On the floor I only did DamplifierPro (I was nervous about raising the floor too much and messing with how the cabinets would go back in).
All in all, I am very pleased with the result. The van is noticeably quieter. I don't have any scientific measurements. But it is very very noticeably quieter.

Indeed... Overkill on my part.
In my reading on this all. 90% or more of the work of sound deadening can be done with 50-75% coverage... But with more coverage there are still gains in performance, just incrementally smaller gains as you increase coverage...
I decided to just go 'all in.' _________________ ----------------------------------------------------

I understand. No use in doing a bunch of labor and not getting it done right...
"all in" will also involve a layer of MLV and then something like this next to the interior trim |
I did CLD then CCF then MLV then reflectix. 4 layers.
The CCF and MLV come 'melted I to one sheet' from second skin..
I only did the CLD on the floor and firewall, where I was worried the thickness would upset things. _________________ ----------------------------------------------------
