Curious why you went with GPS speedo, especially if it takes a few minutes to "turn green" and track satellites (as mentioned on your blog)? Why not just convert the vanagon's signal from analog to digital using one of these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/120821043652?item=12082104...mp;vxp=mtr, also used in various other VWs? This (and potentially a Dakota Digital box depending on gauge) would allow you to hook up all manner of speedos?
But very cool project! I'm in the middle of trying to wire up a Digifiz to my Westy

I'd paint the silver panels black to match the dash. _________________ 86 Syncro Build - Ecotec Motor Swap - Pop Top Conversion - Camper Build & Syncro Conversion |

Further along down the road. while it isn't perfect, it should meet my needs and it is one of the better examples of integrating modern gauges with the stock cluster arrangement.

That looks very nice all painted black. I'm curious about something. How does the speedo and the fuel gauge hook up? I honestly don't know how a factory vanagon seedo hooks up, but with the fuel gauge are you wiring it to the stock sending unit or are you using one of vdo's fuel sending units? _________________ 86 Syncro Build - Ecotec Motor Swap - Pop Top Conversion - Camper Build & Syncro Conversion |

Further down the road:
This is the first time I have seen my new gauges in place, complemented nicely by my new Audi center vent and Subaru HVAC control and added under dash space. (Bungee holding column temporarily)
