Truck looks great John. Are we going to have to start keeping lap times on Trailbash? _________________

Not much. Just got in the new brake hard lines, and started wire brushing the underside in preparation to paint it.
LOTS of scaly rust coming off. I'll feel better when that's all sealed up. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

With all the potions out there how are you gonna treat the rust? Are you gonna 'convert' it? 'Paint Over' it with a 'Miracle paint' to give rust the 'Bullet' topcoat or a combination of both? |

Simple plan. Wire brush, solvent deglosser, Grey POR 15 sprayed on. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

Here's one, I use what I can find in the local stores.
Making sure its not a water based product.
The water based ones work great on wood, not so much on metal.

Finally finished scraping, wire brushing, wire wheeling, vacuuming, deglossing, and POR-15-ing the undercarriage.
Next, new hard brake lines, then, engine.
Gee, I have a week to go before Trailbash.
Wish me luck!

Yeah, not bad for original barndoor undercarriage. It was pretty badly surface rusted under there. The outer rockers were replaced, and the inner and intermediate on one side. Everything else is OG. Except for the 1/8" steel box plates on the frame rails, that is...
There are welded on brackets for the front pedal area. I plan to fab up some sort of front skid plate/pedal pan for the front, as the original one from its race days is long gone.
You can sort of see it here:

Hey John that looks Schaweeeeet.
Are those extra outriggers in the rear there? Or is that how the barndoors looked underneath? |

Pretty cool, before John's pic I had never noticed. So I was thinking that the builder added those additional rear outriggers for added support. Well, it looks like barndoors have them all stock. I guess at some point they eliminated them and went with a boxed frame section instead of a tophat/outrigger setup. I only notice because I am doing that metal work on my late model splittie single cab now.
More importantly, looks great John!
