I have a question regarding prices of Sachs clutches. When I look on some of the parts vendors sites for Sachs clutch components, the pressure plate and clutch disc is around $99.00 a piece. However, I see several ads on Ebay, such as here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SACHS-CLUTCH-KIT-Volkswage...mp;vxp=mtr where the whole kit is $90.00. Am I missing something?

There's Sachs German and Sachs Brazil made clutch parts, the German versions run significantly more.

Ex - BusDepot Brazil Sachs vs BusDepot German Sachs

I put a Brazil made Sachs in my '70 Bug, works fine.

There is also Sachs Korean which many of the cheaper ones are but mine is holding up fine. So if it is as cheap or cheaper than a Brazilian one and does not specify where made expect that it is Korean.

Wolfsburg west sells the sachs clutch discs, I hear they are good, but I haven't done a clutch on my beetle yet. They are probably cheaper at autozone. And I wonder if that lifetime warranty is free replacement like how it is for the brake shoes.

That's what I'm planning on doing. Have a friend that used to work with autozone and told me the warranty works as the brakes. He has a westfalia and his clutch is from autozone.

Brazilian Sachs fit sloppy in the flywheel. They need to be spaced evenly before tightening, whereas the Germans fit snugly in the flywheel and should not cause any wobbling issues. The German PPs fit like Kennedy Clutches do.
