|
|
Hey Guys! Just got through assembling my front end, and went on to installing the tie rods today. Once i did, i noticed the steering stabilizer is rubbing on the metal fuel line when i turn it by hand.
So i did a little research through the forums, and noticed someone mentioned it came into use for the 1960 model year, and only the later produced 1960 models. Im working on a 1960 Euro beetle built early in October of 1959 for the 1960 model year.
Could it be that mine just didn't come with one originally, which is why the fuel line is where it is? I noticed my 66' is back more in the frame head.
Check it out and let me know what you guys think....

My 1960 beetle with a production date of February 23, 1960, does not have the stabilizer. The stabilizer was added to cars built shortly after that date. I think it was around the first week of March 1960. _________________ 1960 beetle

Are you reffering to the stabalizer or the steering damper?? The Damper may interfere with fuel line the stabalizer not so much as it is under the beam. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

You guys are great, thank you!
I would like to use it if possible. Has anyone heard of, or done an alteration to make it work without needing to relocate the fuel line? |
