|

OK so i have a 68 with and IRS T1 trans which had the T1 hockey stick in it, i replaced the hockey stick because i changed the shift coupler and rod bushing, since i did that the transmission doesnt shift into gears, i tried adjusting the shifter for hours.....could i have the wrong hockey stick? the hole for the hold screw is on the bottom as i believe it should be... i thought there was some sort of way of testing the transmission but this guy at a shop told me there isnt. Can i get a few suggestions from you guys? The trans is currently out of the car. ANY AND ALL replies appreciated, thanks. |

When you changed the hocky stick, did you have all the shift rails lined up, and get the hocky stick into the slot in the rails??
If the hocky stick has the dimple in the bottom, then it should be the right one for a T-3.
Is the shift plate under the shifter in right?? the Big tab should be up and to the right.
Do you have a stock shift lever in the car.
Start from stock and go from there. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

are the shift rails the 3 little lobe things? if so i dont know if i "lined them up" for i didnt know you had to or HOW to do it. but i did put the hockey stick in the little slot. i have an empy trigger on there which i am replacing with the only other shifter i have which was on there before and worked. if anyone wants to trade me for a stock shifter i wont be against it . thanks for the reply.
BTW this is the old hockey stick the one that is in there now looks exactly the same but the hole is on the other side.

Yes, the three "lobe" things. they should be lined up with each "slot" matching the one next to it.
The hocky stick then goes into that slot, as the housing is installed.
The rails are whats attached to the shift forks inside the tranny. 1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th, and reverse. They will move in and out, one at a time, but it one is moved the other 2 wont move. These are what the hocky stick moves as you run thru the gears.
As for a shift lever, go to a salvage yard and get one. You could even use one from a late T-1 if needed. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

Ok so i checked to see if the hockey stick was in right and it seemed to be in there correctly. The Hockey stick was in the "slot" pictured here.
Do the lobes look right to you guys? Thanks |
