How much will affect horsepower from what? Are you stepping up from a 40 intake valve or stepping down from a 48? That's a serious head for not knowing what cam is in it... |

This motor is going in a 72 Baja w/IRS
I have a dual port motor, i just resealed it today. it as 93.93 stamped on the pistons and the stroke is stock. The heads are bored to match the jugs with stock valves.
I am using a rebuilt Holly Bug Spray carb that has some racing mods from 20 yrs ago. I'm using a used stock trany.
I don't know what cam.
How many HP should this be?
Anyone with some set-up suggestions?
plug gap .28
valves .006
Petronix in 009 dist.

Is our stock tranny ok for the increase hp? |
Nope. I blew up 2 difs before going to a super diff then blew up first gear. I dont beat my car either. |

Transaxle lasted quite a few years with my 1641, only lasted 3 weeks with the 1915. Scond diff lasted maybe a year. Cant remember how long after the superdiff went in before first gear went.
Doubling the power on stock parts usually has bad effects. Cant count how many CV joints I replaced. Now this was on a baja with larger tires with better traction so that can have an effect too. If your using stock size tires that just spin like crazy the parts wont be as strained but get some traction and I doubt they will. I had friends breaking stuff with street tires. |

Run 13s all day then drive home again. Full steel '67 with the back seat taken out, 1914cc with 40mm carbs, Engle 130 cam, 40x36valve , stock gearbox, steel wheels and old radials. |

As soon as my crank and stuff gets here from DPR I'll start putting together a 1915 with 40 IDFs, Engle FK42 w/1:1.4, Timms stage 1 heads, 1 1/2" A1 pipes. I'll be happy with 115-120 hp. It'll go into my 1600+ lb repliporsche that won't be raced or otherwise beaten up. _________________ '78 Biegephalia |

Good choice.
For my distant piatem this Prowler should do a clap combination of parts I do not know how will function but will try 1914cc pistons and rings of mercedes 480g , 40mm 36vent carbs, Scat C65cam , 1.25 rockers , 40x36valve ported head intake port exhaust polish no ported , stock rods and crank , 4,5kg flywheel all balancing . I think that if the previous engine we realized Power 5800 this engine would rebalo accomplished 6200-6300.I think this engine will push and 13th 1/4 |

It is in general little serious engine
Here in Macedonia is another we have two restricted classes of engines from 1300cc to 1600cc and 1800cc to 2000cc but the requirement is to have a 40mm carburettors or if you drive Fuel Injection you must have TPS 65mm we strive to achieve as much of the engine with dual 40 I try my 1600 engine and friend negovior 1915 for now We're doing well if you have something in mind for better engine with 40mm suggest me whether higher RPM's or more HP and Nm is beneficial to me |

Reviving an old thread...
I'm planning a 1915 build for my "new" '69 Convertible using:
- My own d-port design 40x35 heads, cleaned up by Denham
- 1 1/2" merged system from CB Perf (A1) (really nice system, BTW)
- C45 cam (similar to a 120 - because I have it on the shelf) w/1.25's
- 40 IDF's with 28mm vents
- Planning for around 9 to 1 compression
Hoping for 130-140 hp range. Will be a driver car, so not looking to "run the number" at the track. I expect the performance to be a mid-high 14 second capable car, however.
Optted for the C45 cam over a W110 because I want to leave open the option to slap on some IDA's if I get a wild hair some day... _________________ David Ward

It's all in the heads, carbs, and cam.
Just don't forget about drive-ability. _________________ Andrew Kirby |

You need to put 32mm venturies in those 40 IDF's. Use stock 1.1 rockers unless you get bigger carbs and exhaust. _________________ 2017 Street Comp Champion - Thunder Valley Raceway Park - Noble, OK

I’d like to put 32mm or even better, 34mm vents. I may swap to using a set of 42DCNFs instead.
As for the rockers, the cam is designed to run 1.25s and that’s what I’m running. _________________ David Ward
