Glad to see you are back at it. Also glad to hear life has stabilized a bit for you. Family struggles are not fun. Keep up the good work!

It's been a long time since I responded! Some issues came up this past year, and my project got shelved—family issues. Everyone is good now! The front clip has damage not captured in the photo. The body will finally be shipped out in a few weeks. My engine is done (photos coming soon). I also purchased a ton of metal for part replacement. We will get there! I will now be able to update this thread more often.

The OG part looks ok, why are you replacing it?

They have my speedo as we speak. I am super excited to get it back. When I pulled it out of the dash it came apart in my hands. Someone had taken it apart and just stuffed it back in the hole. So many strange things about my car.

I am confused, the comment made about the pan halves I believe was toward another user who Wolfgang posted on my thread.

My pan halves are the chassis on the jack stands in the garage. Are those not correct?

You have later style pans.

In my opinion, no big deal! Better than rusted old ones. It looks great! Don’t let them drag you down! Keep moving forwards!

When Russ did the pan, correct pan halves were not available new.

Just the rear section is available to make a WW pan look correct, or Gerson makes the correct rear pans. Once the car is done, you can't tell without lifting the seat though. So not a big deal.

Right side should look like this:

But this car is far from stock so it probably doesn't matter.

It is at the rear potion. It is the raised “shelf” or steps in the pan attaching to the tunnel and descending down. Ovals have a more rounded area and less useable flat area.

Only someone who knows sees it right off the bat. If you are going for a concourse restoration, you should replace it. But if you are just having fun and love working on your Bug as a hobby, do whatever pleases you! Carry on!

Pan looks great!!!!

Great work, but what a pity, that WolfsburgWest doesn´t reproduce the correct pan halfs for pre 8/55 cars...
