I have a pair of weber 34 ict that need to be rebuild, but have had no luck finding anyone that can rebuild them. Would it be hard for me to rebuild them myself or should I have a shop do them.

The rebuild kit is carried by most places that sell webers. It's not that hard of a task. You'll replace the diaphragms for the accelerator pumps, float needle valves, clean up/check your jets some new gaskets/o-ring or two. One thing you should determine is if your throttle shafts have a lot of play. If they do you'll need a little machine work on them and have them re-bushed...otherwise they can be a big pain to synchronize and tune.

this will help but you need adobe to look at it http://www.racetep.com/weber/34_ICT.pdf

while someone's on the subject, I have dual weber 34 ict's as well. do you think it'd be possible for a noob to do both in a weekend, or one each weekend? when I let off the gas, gas is still going into my carb and it takes two or three seconds for my car to idle down.. as well, my 3rd cylinder isn't firing. compression test of the cylinder is 110, and it is getting a spark, that's for sure. dunno what else to do besides just ripping things off and replacing them one by one. has pertronix ignitor, and my valves are adjusted to .006

Yes, you can do it. If you've never done it before you'll take a little extra time but finish to end no more than a few hours on the weekend between lunch. Look at the kits...http://www.cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=1200

Just make sure the throttle shafts aren't real worn as I said before. Check your idle and main jets as well. The word rebuild can be a little intimidating but when you're done...you'll say that all there is to it. Make sure to buy your gaskets for between the carb and intake manifold those don't come in the kit. And make sure you sync the carbs too. You might want to check into getting some new return springs. That might help return the idle back to the stop screws.

ICT's are one barrel so your feeding 2 ports with one carb. so if cyl. isn't firing and the other is you might want to look at other causes. Pull the plug out on the cyl. that isn't firing and test it or just put some new plugs in. It's a place to start.

I may have mis-spoken here on the gaskets for between the manifold and carb not being included in the kits. It looks like CB's web picture shows that they are there. Either way make sure to ask when you buy the kit for thier being included. Don't use old gaskets...you might even want to replace the gaskets from the heads to the intake manifolds while you're at it Wink

Thanks for the reply, I'm definitely going to look into that. At lunch a couple hours ago I was looking at my carburetors and I noticed there was air coming out of the balance tube - I fixed this as best as I could with the tools I had present, but I'm definitely going to have to do that proper when I get the chance. On my passenger side carb the balance tube is nice and secure (i.e. you can't twist the inlet) but on the driver's side it's loose and you can see teflon tape where the brass fitting goes into the manifold. It looks pretty sloppy, but I don't think it's causing anything major. I recently put new plugs in, and the old ones were fuel fouled but new looking underneath that. Going to replace my spark plug wires and a new coil when I get the chance, as well as a dist. cap (even though this too is fairly new).

Check to see if your throttle is binding up somewhere. I ran into a problem with the linkage that runs to my passenger side carb. Its position was very close to the altenator stand. When I gave it gas, there was just enough pivet movement that made the linkage contact the stand. I solved it by adding some washers to where the arm connects to the carb.

Well the reason, I think they need to be rebuilt is one of the carbs was not letting my car idle and it would die. Looking down the carb, there was no fuel coming out on one of the carbs, but the other one was fine.
