Is "Solex 32-34 PDSIT 2-3" an alias for "Solex 34 PDSIT 2-3" ?
I presume: Solex 34 was used on 74,73,72 T2s, while Solex 32-34 was used on earlier T2s.
May be I am all wrong: It's just two names for the same stuff.  _________________ Stock 1974 US Westy, AW-A 1800cc dual carbs. Twin Falls is my favorite site on the Churchill river in Manitoba. |

32-34 is the size of the venturi it supports. 2 is the left carb, 3 is the right. The 32-34 stamping you are seeing seems to be one body used for two configs.
Type 3's used 32-PDSIT and 411/Bus used 34-PDSIT. The 32-PDSIT body is not the same as the 32-34-PDSIT body on the 72-74 bus carbs. _________________ '78 Westfalia CDN

Thank you, to put me back on the right track.
I ask this because I want to get a set of used carbs to learn, rebuild and hopefully be ready when my 1974 dual carbs will need repair.
I want to make sure I get the same carbs I have presently.
The Haynes: 1700/1800/2000 1972 thru 1979 only tells about Solex PDSIT 34 2/3.
From your explanation, I understand that Haynes tells about a 32-34 PDSIT body equipped with 34 inners.
Are they 34 PDSIT bodies ?
You told me there are 32 PDSIT bodies not the same as 32-34 PDSIT bodies.
Ordering a Solex 32-34 PDSIT carb, I run the risk, it's equipped with 32 inners and be useless for me.
How can I avoid getting wrong parts ?

The bus carb, stamped 32-34-PDSIT can have either a 32mm or 34mm venturi. It's removable.
The Type 3 32-PDSIT carb is not made from the same casting.

I think it's only the venturi that's different for european models. I think it would be hard to find one with the smaller venturi. _________________ '78 Westfalia CDN

I forgot to say that my bus is a 1974 US Westy, that I bought in the US in 1977. It's likely it has 34 mm venturies.
( this Westy is now stored far away in France, and when I am there I have no Internet, Very inconvenient )
In the Haynes manual, dual carbs are named 34 PDSIT, there is nothing else.
From an old manual I have in French, I see engine CA august 1971 Solex 34 PDSIT 2/3 for 1700, Nowhere anything about 32-34 PDSIT, Nowhere anything about 32 PDSIT.

The manual will always say 34 because that is the actual carb model. 32-34 is only stamped on the part to save money by using a single mold. _________________ '78 Westfalia CDN
