was going over my new 67 bus i got to looking at it and seen it had an unusual antenna on it after doing some research i belive it is a herschmann red tip antenna but a safari version . i did a search on them and found nothing but a guy in europe selling one but no pics of the base. was these a asscesory from then or was it a dealer option , or did they never really exsist . i will try to post a pic but having a hard time on it allowing me to.

I did a nice job with mine, and have been asked to/have done a few for other folks (with a standard ant., I won't risk someone elses red tip). Don't know if there were any "factory" HRT safari ant's though... sorry. |

I don't believe it is specific to safaris. I believe Hirschman just made them bent possibly just to keep them out of the windshield/line of sight area. I have taken a few off of buses that were originally installed in Europe on Tourist delivery buses and none of them had safaris originally. I think the term for safari antenna stuck because it is ideal for safaris. |

Dave, how did you do yours? I tried doing a plain one, with a tubing bender with less than successful results. I ended up cutting it to clear the safaris. I seem to remember seeing a tutorial on doing this somewhere too. |

I saw that awhile back and forgot to book mark it. Thanks for the link. _________________

Put your lips onto the little tit with the hole in it inside and make a good seal. You can suck and blow but with a little resistance. It gets better after it's wet. |

That's the same tutorial I used to make mine, only difference was that I used a brass rod instead of aluminum. I must add that I did not use a Hirschman red tip. |

I have a bus with that exact scenario and the red-tip. |
