G'day all. welcome to my 30 odd years of thinking about how to start and finish this. But here goes. the bay is a 76 windowed 2 seat complianced. behind the front seat will be a rover v8 backed up by a toyota van 5 speed gearbox behind that a nissan 720 4x4 transfer case that run's H2wd H4wd neutral & L4wd. T front spindles are out of a holden rodeo or commonly an izusu 4x4 the differentials will be out of holden commodore's they are IRS. the rear suspension will be unchanged the diff center will mount on custom
x member's the front beam is also standard apart from relocating center steering arm to below the bottom beam instead of thru the middle to allow room for front diff. The complete set up for motor & trans will mount to a separate subframe made out of 4inch x 2 inch box tube that will lift out from between existing chassis rails they will be boxed for extra strength

Well that certainly will be interesting, a little like a rolling United Nations 
Please post pics as you build but add a carriage return after each pic so they stack up vertically next time

Whoa.... I thought buses were old... Carriage return goes back to the horse and buggy times

Awww....come on now!, I'm not old enough to remember anyone using mechanical typewriters daily, Mom had an electric one in her office and it was far from new
You young'ns obviously have never experienced the awesome cosmic power of pulling the carriage all the way to the left on a legal size Selectric and stabbing that button, Ssssshhhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrppppp...THUD!, it would sometimes make that 50 lb machine jump sideways on the desk an inch and heaven help any object that was "accidentally" placed in it's path like a soda can, box of paper clips or unsuspecting passerby if it was near the edge of the desk (8 year olds find ways to entertain themselves ) I had just learned to actually use it to type when the TRS80 came out, we all took a while to retrain our brains to call that the enter button
So in this modern world what do you call the act of starting a new line or paragraph when you type?

Geez, that was cutting edge technology. I had a good ole standard typewriter for my school reports and loved that dang ink ribbon that got bound up every 1/2 hour. OH! Almost forgot, 4X4 Bus. More progress pics please. |

G'day all & midwesty. At the rate I am getting the parts together hopefully by the end of the year. The worst part of the project is waiting for the machine shop to fit in my less than normal work they mainly do agricultural machinery rebuilding. Tha next issue for time is that I am also converting my son in laws bay to ej22 power I hope to convince him to go with Todd's subaru reverse gearbox while we are at the engine out stage. In the meantime I have been setting up the wiring diagram for the rover decided the bay wiring is to crappy so I will do a complete rewire from front to back easier than trying to make it all work together & look presentable.I will post pics of the van itself next week when i get back to it thanks to everyone for your interest

g'day greenbus pilot. I am looking at using a power rack with a holden astra electric power pump. will have to spend some time sorting it out maybe able to use a the astra rack with only 1 side connected to center arm that is the last on the long list of gotta do later job's. the very last is fitting a radio.

Gday aaronr25. probably run 15inch by 7inch the rims will be 6 stud jap 4x4 pattern using new rear drive hub's drilled to match the front. So until I get the spindle back & bolted on I won't know what offset I will need.

G'day all. Spent a while in the shed setting up the front diff to the beam just get an idea it where it would sit & what I would need to fit it the half shafts line up with the drive spindles location waiting to get 1 so I can finalise a position & build the xmember 5cm round tube that will bolt between chassis rails & support the front over drive flange
