No car is titled, and clean, the Vin Plate has some surface rust, and it's hard to read the numbers. I am trying to save the plate.
Thanks
Gary

Personally, I like to see a car that has not had the VIN plate removed. That way it's easy to see that the front clip has not been messed with, and you can see the original color when you DO take it it off. Wink

Has anybody tried this guy's "ribets" for the VIN tag? Any good?
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=483999

My tag is in such bad shape I'm not sure I'd be able to clean it up in place. I'd like to refinish behind it as well, and remount it with the correct look. It'll be titled and registered on a replacement chassis, so I'm not that worried about the draconian Maryland MVA taking it away to the crusher if they don't like whatever "ribets" I use... Mad

Here is mine before and after I soaked it in lemon juice for a day. I'm also gonna get mine plated like you did Russ. BTW all the "Made in Germany" tags I've seen have been silver like yours.

As long as you're taking photos for the future 'build' thread, I can handle the occasional 'teaser' pic Smile
Good luck in getting it to The Classic.

I don't actually have a VIN plate for my Oval. Its obvious that the car had a smash at some point and the plate must of perished. Anyone know somewhere where I can get a replacement?
