I pulled this pic from an earlier post. Thank you to the owner of the pic.

What is the white thing just above the coil? It looks like it is in a fuel or vacuum line. I have a 75 Bus with the 1800 FI engine. I don't have this on mine. Is it for the brake booster vacuum line or for a fuel line? What is it for?

I am currently working on an engine running problem and am trying to track down engine differences.

See post "75 FI question - who can tackle" for my problem.

Thanks,
-Chris

Woah, now THAT's the kind of engine I aspire to have when I get bread for it. Fair thoughts and happy hours attend thee on thy way to Cape Town, Bursch.

Here's my '78 GE code 2.0L in my '72 bus:

She's not the queen of the prom, but hey, I get from A to B.

P.S. I have never been able to find out what that relay on the driver side wheel well is. Anyone else know?

Yeah but which relay is it? It has it's diagram printed on the side, so could it be the booster fan relay?

carbs are complete but full of gunk

all tin is there, as are all the little rubber gromets etc which normally go missing

dormant for 8 years, turns freely. Now stripped ready for rebuild. This will replace my current 1.7 motor so that I can take that out for a full rebuild due to rod knock Sad

my 1700. this is suffering now, top end is ok, hopefully I can save the botoom end as for a standard motor it pulls like a train. Carbs and all ancillaries will be donated to the 2000 for the time being

Are those Riechert carbs? What kind of manifolds and fan shroud are you using?

I'm going to install weber 34 ict carbs on my 1641 cc (bay from 1971). And i want to fit oldspeed airfilters just like the Riechert set has. The guy who is helping me with this says it will be close (or no) fit agianst the fan shroud.
I think i have the "normal" manifolds that go with the weber 34 ict.
My helping friend think the manifolds could also be for a type 3 pancake engine.
