Yep, kids are cool - As I write this, we're trying to get our 4 kids into bed -and the little Missus wonders why the buggy only has seating for 2...

Thanks for the radiator info - I'm currently using a local guy that builds radiators & has been here for about 30 years or so -

no speed shop in your area? theres this really old racer guy that has a little hole in the wall speed shop near here, i decided to stop in there before i ordered from jegs, found out he had a huge selection of AN fittings and such, for much better prices than jegs.

Man that engine looks nice and clean up in there. I kinda figured you would have gone for a full polish on the engine or at least powdered valve covers etc. Shocked

In excatly 13 years I will remind you of how you were looking forward to your first child etc...

Seriously, congrats on the kid.... Very Happy

I got a little more accomplished on the motor swap. I finished up the radiator rack/ductwork. It is sheeted with .090 aluminum. When all was said and done, I think I could have gone a lot lighter duty on this part. It is pretty much bulletproof.

(note the rack is just sitting there. That is why it is crooked, SCOTT! Rolling Eyes )

I also pulled the motor (hopefully the last time) and cleaned up the firewall opening. I also started to finish up all the plumbing and get a head start on the wiring.

OK, so that final "motor pull" was wishful thinking. I threw it back in the car to finish the mock up. At this point it gives a pretty good idea what the final product will look like. The only missing parts are the engine cage and a few accessory items. Hopefully this weekend I will R&R the motor for the last time, button everything up and start focussing on the fuel tank and pump. After that, its "Wrrrrrrr Wrrrrrrr baaaaaaruuuhhhooooom". Wink

Scott,

Tonight I got the motor installed for hopefully the last time. I only R&R'd about 6 times this afternoon Evil or Very Mad First time, one of the studs wasn't long enough. Then the pressure plate was inerferring with the transmission, causing a bind. It took me three times removing the motor to get that one resolved. Then The wiring was slightly off and showed a possible spot where it might whear. So, out came the motor again. Finally, and this is the one that about put me over the top, during all the action I forgot to torque the pressure plate.....grrrr....that just pisses me right off. All in all, not a very productive day. But, I pretty much buttoned up a lot of loose ends. All the car needs to run is the finish wiring and to make the connection at the fuel tank/Fuel pump. The rest is just detail stuff. All I need is a little more "free time". Hopefully I can swing a full day on the car this week to get it running.

Looking good SHMO. What fuel pump and filter are you using? Also, could you get the part number off of the belt?
I blew a hole in the VW Easter weekend, so I am now progressing to stage 2, and getting the Eco prepped to go in.

Hey SHMO,
Are those header tubes equal length? That looks like it could be done on a Pinto engine.

Im not sure if they are "exactly" equal length tubes, but pretty close. I suppose you could do that to a pinto motor. But, it's still going to explode on impact when someone rear ends you...haha

Turbolark,
I'll take a look for the part numbers the next time I am at the shop. Sorry to hear about your motor. It never fails, just when a guy is having fun.

SHMO very nice fab work. I have two question's and I know you have it all figured out no doubt. I see the fan pushing air thru the radiator. Where do you have an exit for the air the fan is pushing? Is there a reson for the fan not being on the inside pushing the air towards the engine? Reason I am asking is because I may go water cooled on my next project.

Fans normally pull air, not push, although some can go both ways...like SHMO. Laughing
