No boots came in the kit. I don't think you need it. |
I looked on their website and fox doesn't have boots on any of their shocks, they are a top shelf shock company and they know what they are doing. Fully rebuildable as well unlike my OME shocks in the garbage.
Can't wait to see them in action.
FWIW, the GW price is well within reason for that brand of shocks. |

the Hollister website is
http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1179
the address is
7800 Cienega Road
Hollister CA 95023
there is easy 2wd access to the old obstacle course along Green marked trails, in this case Foothill Road
look at the map for upper ranch:
http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/pages/1170/files/hollisterhillsmap_upperranch-web.pdf
find Area 5 camping area just below Cienega Road, just below that you will see 4x4 Obstacle Course, at Foothill Road.
You should pull into the main entrance first, and get a day pass for $5 from the ranger, or $10 if you want to camp overnight.
One or two of us might be staying overnight, not positive.
I plan to get to the old obstacle course by 10 am this saturday Jan 7, 2010
there is no phone reception, but I will turn on my walkie talkie to channel 4-1 |

Probably not, but I could meet you at the entrance, park your car, and we could drive over in my Van to preview the conditions, or just ride with me.

See you folks there. |

I haven't been paying attention.
I have plans to go with my 17 year old son to a Hippy music festival at Fernwood in Big Sur, Saturday.
I'll have to think about this...my Syncro buddies, or young, dancing nymphets.... _________________ '85 GL w/2.1L "The Tardis"

Both!
Hollister with a bunch of hairy gearheads AND Big Sur with a bunch of
> young, dancing nymphets
The Nymph show is from 9pm to 1am tomorrow night, Saturday 1/7/12
It takes less than 2 hours to get to Fernwood from Hollister, plenty of time |

Jon, we are planning going to the 'Noon to Sundown' all ages show, Saturday.
I will probably go to Big Sur...as much as I would like to watch you guys try to break things.
It will be the first time my son, who has had his license for a year, will drive one of the vans down the coast. I really want to be with him. I have been driving down there for the 43 years since I got my license, and as you guys know, there are still places where you really have to pay attention.
If he changes his mind, I'll see you at Hollister. _________________ '85 GL w/2.1L "The Tardis"

Hollister was really Fun!
here is my small photo dump
https://picasaweb.google.com/sliderjon/HollisterBurritos1712
There was carnage early on, with cvbill living up to his name, breaking a stock front outer CV
Betty did Truck Hill, a first for both of us, it was surprisingly easy thanks to my front locker and solid shaft.
vwhead did show and tell with his 1.8T installation
and the 1.8T carrier bars he has designed
, fabricated by Burley.
vwhead and tdwesty both did show and tell of the new Fox shocks, giving them rave reviews.
thanks to everyone for sharing a great time! |

Well, after I left you guys at the Hills, I drove into Hollister to get some gasoline. I found that the gas pedal was flat on the floor. The linkage below the petal disintegrated. I rigged a tent rope and some tie wire from the throttle body, over the engine bay(with open engine cover) then through the rear seat and up between the front seats where I could pull it with my right arm for gas while shifting at the same time.
It actually worked better than it sounds.
Will machine some real parts today
I'm starting to doubt my sanity.........nahh, lost that a long time ago

P.S. and install a new front axle |

Wow Bill, sorry you got to have all the fun by yourself. Sounds like I should add tent rope and tie wire to my MacGyver kit.
> Congrats on Truck Hill, Jon
Thanks, you are welcome to ride with me any time. I really dont think I did anything, it was all Betty's doing, well, except I blame Bill for suggesting Betty's driver has small cojones. Truth hurts, I might need to compensate with some of these: (cant decide between the Blue ones and the Brass ones, what do you think?)

Great times!
Mr Jon Slider in action!
The ladder.
Congradulations Jon for making Truck Hill.
Jon has stock axles with both front and rear lockers.
Here's David's attem at truck Hill
Good try David.
Safely rolling back down.
More random shots.

Dang MacGyver, you were one windbreaker jacket and a tent pole away from making a ultralight airplane.
