Fun fact, Jeff Skiles , the co-pilot , had type certified on the A320 the previous Friday. That’s training.

HUH???? Confused
In any event-----another fun fact: Cap't Sullenberger was awarded an Honorary Lifetime Membership in the Seaplane Pilots Association. Very Happy

Were you alive then?

The original Macintosh cost $2500. Today you can buy a new Macbook Pro 16 for the same price.

A couple days late on this one but 50 years ago on Weds 3. April 1974 an EF5 tornado wiped out Xenia, Ohio near Dayton. Early warning systems were in their infancy then. It was only when WHIO TV's meteorologist Gil Whitney noticed a "hook echo" on the weather radar heading right at town and frantically broke into programming to tell people to "take shelter NOW!" did anyone have any warning unless they were one of the few outside or at windows looking SW that saw the huge funnel.

The Xenia tornado was one of 148 tornadoes spawned during the still infamous 1974 super outbreak of April 3-4 1974.

People who went through it that are still alive today still react badly to storms and wind. Thankfully it hit at 4:45 PM after school let out because several schools got direct hits- the high school got totaled and a bunch of school buses got tossed ON TOP of what used to be the high school.

Another tornado (or likely the same one) also hit the Sayler Park area of Cincinnati, causing much destruction. In January of 1974 we moved from Cincinnati to Akron. We lived probably about 20 minutes from Saylor Park. In Akron we got severe thunderstorms, hail, and wind, but thankfully no tornado.

Pat Tillman was killed in Afghanistan on April 22, 2004.

The news stunned his fellow Americans. He was one of the most famous soldiers since Elvis Presley and perhaps the most famous American killed in combat since legendary war correspondent Ernie Pyle in World War II.

Killed by friendly fire, then turned into a narrative for recruitment

The first casualty of war is the truth
