Nope. He died in 2000 from Aids contracted from sharing needles.
Thank God! He was really dead most of his adult life anyway... _________________

Not missing but re-attached. Right index finger, crushed between the to sections of a freight elevator door. I have about 10% movement and it's crooked and slightly shorter than it's neighbor on the other hand but still there. _________________ 69 Beetle

You know, his hand was hangin by a thin piece of skin only and they reattached it? It was amazing that it took! He actually regained about 80% use of it. Enough to play a guitar. (He was very good at guitar before). The only way you could tell aside from the obvious scarring was that the hand was about 10% smaller than the undamaged one.

I have known people who are missing few digits. I took woodshop and our instructor insist on us using the push blocks when using the table saws. He waived his hand to demonstrate its importance -thumb, index and middle fingers all missing.
I have been lucky - I could have lost an eye when I was about to precision grind something on the lathe and the toolpost wheel fractured. Sent fragments of the stone all over and a large piece lodged up the garage door. I was standing on the side of the grinder -as you are supposed to - when powering up the grinder for that very reason.
When you miss an important step in safety can be catasthropic.
John Wayne Bobbit was missing his digit...but only for few hours. Got it re-attached and even made a movie - the 'extended' version. |

I nearly lost the end of my "Pierre Trudeau" salute digit (Canadian joke from the late '70's when our then leader used it in public) in the log splitter. It was 2/3 cut off but the Dr on call sewed it back together, a bit numb and crooked but it still works! _________________ Our cars get old, we get old but driving an old VW never gets old! |

So long as it works -is all that matters after its re-attachment.
And I will not care how it looks - |
