wow!! what a weekend!! here's a brief report on some of the people involved with making my weekend so memorable......

Miguel.
with looks that surely could have secured him placement in a 90's "boy band", Miguel is just one of the friendly faces in the club. with a car collection outnumbering the hairs remaining on my ageing head, one could expect a pompous man. I found nothing could be further from the truth. a passion for beautiful builds and an uncanny knack for knowing exactly when I needed another of his fine, exotic beers from around the world. thanks man.

Jake.
this gruff and somewhat rude man grew on me throughout my stay to the point that I almost hugged him by the end of the weekend. the smell of stale coors light kept that from happening but it was close. it took him a full 24hrs of watching me struggle to get my car finished in time before he decided to lift himself from his chair but man, what a wealth of knowledge. so much so that I soon resorted to pretending to know nothing about cars just to watch him do his thing. after realizing that we both share the same distasteful sense of humor, I've decided I love this man. thanks jake.

Dan.
what can I say about this loveable bear? from his customized, food stained collection of DBK shirts, to his caveman style beard, he is just one big disaster. this has been a year of change for poor dan after realizing that at some point in life, you just become too big for a bug and have to resort to a type 2. although the steering wheel placement on type 2s can be a little cruel to his beautiful mid section, it does provide a fine resting position for his ample upper body. whats not to love about this guy? cute, cuddly and funny as fuck. and I still have no idea if he likes my car or not. love ya dan.

Pip 2.
yes, our very own George Clooney stunt double is a man that can make shit happen. from building awesome cars to making dickies shorts look like pants that are slightly too short for him, he is the boy wonder of da LBC. I sure hope to have his same energy and enthusiasm when I reach his advanced years. there can be no busier man on the scene at this time of year but he always manages to make time to answer all of my stupid questions. I think it may be my cute accent that appeals to him or the fact that we've both been fucked with our whole lives for having such a gay name but I've found a friend in this man. thanks again bruvver.

Mike.
and last but not least, my sleeping partner, Mike. with a boundless source of energy, the boy is a human dynamo. with unbelievable patience for small annoying shit, he was the perfect man to help out with semaphores and the like. there's nothing quite like getting a horn working at 3am and then settling into the trailer with nothing but a 120 lb pitbull with an untrustworthy look in her eye between us. his palatial trailer was a welcome resting spot for me this weekend and an experience I will not soon forget. mike has an absolute heart of gold and has an incredible knowledge for anything VW and dog food related. coco is a lucky girl to have him and I am a lucky man for getting to spend time with him. a great guy.

so all in all, a fantastic weekend filled with great memories and new friends.
there can be no cooler, funnier club than the DBK. thanks guys, you are all good mates.
cheers,
Pip 1.

WOW! What a weekend, what a show! So many great debut cars in the lineup this show. Pip, thanks for everything this weekend, the display looked great. It was great to put a name with a face to a lot of new friends and club members as well. I have a ton of photos I need to resize and post still and I will get to that soon, but here is one to start with. Great job guys! I had a good time. Mr Z shop, congrats on the well deserved win! DBK stunners, every single one of them!

Where do I begin...

Each year gets is filled with tons of great memories, stories, and mis-haps. Sir Pip as you chose to be called, this year was no different. You seem to have a knack for finding the right color for your rides and the little added details you come up with are top notch. I don't know how you come up with all these great ideas?? DBK as a club year by year has proven to be at the top, over the top rides and members knowledge of everything Volkswagen has really shown through. It was great to meet some of our newest members like Jeff Whitten a class act and one of the sickest 63 rag tops I've ever seen (absolutely flawless). Donald from our new Hawaii chapter and just great new friends and club brotha's. Thanks to all that made this weekend a success and stay tuned new whips on the way.

Great pic, thanks. Who took it? Where did it come from rock stock? I don't recall any Limeys sneaking up behind me.
The light appears to be playing a cruel trick with my hair, although it could be the reflection off my lovely mohair headliner. I sure don't recall fitting a solar panel back there.
Dan, I can now sleep knowing you are a big fan of my ideas and that you like the car. You made my day Very Happy
Now, who wants to buy the damn thing so I can afford hair plugs?

I now remember where I've seen this color we all like so much Pip H.
It was in my sons diaper, baby pop green after eating gerber Pee's and that is why it goes so well with urine yellow........ I'd rock that thing any day of the week......
