does it really make a difference if you use an adapter with an oil filter and cooler instead of full flow with oil filter and cooler? it's the same thing but in a different place, right? do people full flow so they can keep a stock oil cooler?

The filter cover keep the filter next to the muffler where it stays HOT.
The in/out pumps have restricted passages.
The best way is to use a true FF cover and tap the case for the return.

It's a really bad idea to remove the stock cooler.

After re-reading you post are you asking about removing the stock cooler and using an adapter to run a remote filter and cooler? If you that was a bad idea 30 years ago and is still a bad idea.

If you get a oil pump that has an intergrated oil filter the filter is right next to the muffler.
