i'd suggest having a reputable restorer fix your original manifold. ZARWERKS is great at those repairs. original is always better. |

No it is't the same. I think your car should have a K manifold, not something that looks like a 1192cc manifold. However, if your really not concerned about stock appearence, the 1192cc manifold will fit. I ruin one on my 25hp motor.
Indeed though, if you want an original, or if you have an original you need fixed—Zarwerks. _________________ 53 oval hardtop |

Its the one on the bottom.
Then there is the jacketed k manfold which is actually for 51-52, MUCH rarer.
This one is mine.

If you're looking straight down on it, it resembles a K. Both heatrisers are straight until they bend down to the exhaust manifold. 30s curve a little and are shorter.
Also, 30s have larger intakes at the head. They will have to be machined down to fit 25 horse heads.
John Henry will probably send you a picture of the K manifold.

The pics above show the K, the jacketed and unjacketed. The jacketed K manifold has no VW part number on the jacket.
I can replace the heat riser legs on the jacketed Ks. Pics of that operation at zarwerks.com _________________ John Henry

No it is not correct. It is a later manifold.
Most K manifolds were replaced because they did not function very well. _________________ Kevin "Wiggy"

wolfsburgvw: Does that manifold have a part number on it ending with "701E"? Probably does.
Jacketed Ks have symmetrical aluminum jackets.

If you are going to use your 36hp manifold on your 25hp motor you would need to mill down the end castings. It will not fit on a 25hp head as is. You'll have a really big leak Also replace the crush gaskets.
Zarwerks can help you with the necessary machining if needed.
"701" is the replacement 25hp manifold (no milling needed). "701E" is 36hp (needs milling to fit 25hp)

Steve,
I sold a jacketed 'K' two weeks before Xmas to a guy in Japan
They're pretty hard to come by and almost impossible to find in good condition. I know John and Jim have restored quite a number of these in the past and occasionally have one for sale.
Best of luck!
Rich. |

DUDE. ITS NOT CORRECT. YOU NEED A DIFFERENT MANIFOLD IF YOU WANT TO BE 100% CORRECT.
THe non-jacketed manifold was used on 50 and earlier, the jacketed manifold was used for most of 52 and 51.
If you want one, GOOD LUCK. A jacketed K manifold will run you over $500, IF you can find one. _________________ Kevin "Wiggy"

I think you mean zarwerks, not brezelwerks. _________________ Kevin "Wiggy"

Actually the JK started in April '50, so very early '50s would have the non jacketed K manifold, but later 50s would have the jacketed version (April 3, in Progressive Refinements) . It is also unclear as to exactly when they ended, but it was before the end of Sept '51. _________________ John Henry
