The sales price that I have heard was $42,500.
I'll be at the auction later today, so I give it the usual thesamba inspection. So the report to follow maybe some pictures as well.
I'm fairly sure I know the owner/builder.. he was calling for parts back in Aug/Sept. If that is the sales price it is alot less than what he has been able to sell 21 windows for at the same auction over the past 10 years. _________________ Transporter Restorations

Commercial buses is where it's at, Westy (based on kombi) 90k, 65 SC
43k, Deluxe 42,500. looking at past BJ's it did real good
1965 VOLKSWAGEN 21-WINDOW VAN SOLD 17,000
2002-BJCCA
1966 VOLKSWAGEN TYPE II 15 WINDOW BUS SOLD 21,060
2003-BJCCA
1959 VOLKSWAGEN TYPE II STATION WAGON SOLD 26,460
2005-BJCCA
1967 VOLKSWAGEN 21-WINDOW "THAT 70'S SHOW" SOLD 27,540
2005-BJCCA
344 1963 VOLKSWAGEN 23-WINDOW MICROBUS SOLD 33,600
1999-BJCCA This is the highest priced bus I can find on BJ auction history, where's all the 40k auction deluxe buses I always heard about.
I always liked commercial buses more, time to sell off the deluxes I guess
Made a couple phone calls to see what the 23 did at "the other auction"

That would be a "rarest of the rare" bus. A '66 15 window?, No such thing, right? |

Don't forget about the Brazilian ones.
Or the fact that that the B-J 21 was titled as a 2000. It's B-J after all, they can call them whatever they want! *pathetic* |

It's really strange to look in the classifieds and see an early 356, in decent shape, for less money than a bus...

I did forget about the brazilians! . And I do agree that B/J is pathetic. The stage guys during thier auctions are so quick to point every little issue on most cars crossing the block, but did'nt seem to know anything when it came to that s/c. |

barrett-jackson supposedly has this policy that if a vehicle turns out to be something other than they listed it for, they take it back, give you a full refund plus shipping expense in both directions. can anyone confirm this? _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

After a quick glance at the pics of the Single Cab, it looks to me like a 1963, not a 1965. Popout vents, lipped wheelwells, thin doglegs, big taillights, and the "1963 only" rear middle mounted "VOLKSWAGEN" script above the decklid. I could be wrong though as I don't pay that close of attention to most Single Cab details. Not that it makes any difference in the value but it certainly would be funny if it wasn't a 1965. _________________ Please check us out on Instagram at @holygrailgarage

My Bro-in-Law bought a sight-unseen BJ 65 Chevy Impala Convertible "Super Sport". Turned out the SS was a clone. They paid full cost shipping both ways and refunded the entire amount.
Good on BJ, but I wouldn't rely on their return policy. It would have to be a pretty cut and dried misrepresentation, like the clone SS, for the refund to occur. If you just don't like the condition of the vehicle, I would say you're out of luck. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS
